Story
[edit | edit source]Deviation Perspective I
[edit | edit source]On the second day of shooting Kisage X's Wrong Soul Requiem, John Keebler, playing the Golden Alpaca, slams a cardboard iron maiden shut on Asuka for a scene. Kisage X stops the scene to do another take, but when they open the iron maiden, Asuka isn't there, never to be seen again.
YIIK I.V and Y2KII
[edit | edit source]While Chondra and Asuka relax underneath a tree in Japan, their sense of peace is shattered when Asuka gets a phone call from her agent telling her that Kisage X wants her as the lead role in a new film. This is unprecedented, as Kisage's wife said that Kisage had retired from filmmaking. The new film is set to be filmed in America.
Later, Asuka spends a lot of her time with Chondra and Claudio at a Record Stop in New Jersey. She spends most of her time memorizing the script for the movie, which she finds enthralling, often laughing hysterically and becoming completely absorbed into the script. Chondra makes an effort to make sure she takes proper breaks when reading the script. However, she's also stressed out, willing to miss out on seeing the ball drop at NYC in favor of practicing more with the script.
In Nameless Child's adventure in YIIK I.V, Asuka is seen playing the role of an angel. She grants Nameless the name Carrie, and often warns her of things to come. In Y2K II, Asuka joins Nameless' party, to play the role of her "special friend."
Inside Mt. ONISM, Asuka plays the role of Sammy, attempting to kill the ONISM MAN but is stabbed before she can succeed. After the shot is complete, the film they have been creating is now finished. The crew heads to a wrap party in Cape Juno, but Kisage X tries to convince Asuka that she needs to deliver the VHS copy of the film to a creepy man named William at his Birthday Party. Despite Asuka's annoyance, she decides to go through with it. Before hearing Kisage's speech at the party, Handsome Krow pulls her aside to talk about how the sword used in the film was from a dream he previously had, and after asking Kisage about it he also revealed that the design came to him in a dream. Krow gives the prop sword to Asuka and gives two conflicting statements, telling her to "Save ONISM MAN" and also to "Kill ONISM MAN." The night of, Asuka is interrupted in her sleep by a phone call from Kisage. He tells her that he knows she stole the prop, but doesn't mind as long as she "honors the contract."
At William's Birthday Party, Asuka gives the VHS to William as a gift. After he watches it, he has an internal epiphany, leading him to ascend and reveal the ONISM MAN hiding inside him. Asuka, with the help of her other selves (Cyrille and Nameless Child), defeats him, and frees all of the cast from YIIK from their binds, allowing them to move on. She lastly tries to free Alex, holding a wooden chalice filled with blood, but is interrupted by Michael, who threatens to kill all of them. This prompts a choice. If she offers the chalice of blood to Michael, he breaks down and weeps, but in response Asuka cuts the ropes keeping him tied to the world and Olexa and Michelle fly away with him. Asuka cuts Alex's chains, and offers him forgiveness. If Asuka offers the chalice to Alex first, Michael goes through with his plan and kills everyone, including Asuka.
The SerpentSlayer
[edit | edit source]A "Stunt Double" of Asuka appears in Alex's Mind Dungeon in NG++ once the Player has fully leveled up all Karta and has obtained the Broken Record. Interestingly, this encounter and its associated questline are not available if the Player is named "True Asuka[1]." The Stunt Double is asleep on the ground in front of the theatre before Alex wakes her. She exclaims that she "should've been in hair and makeup already" and mentions her sword, the SerpentSlayer, is missing.
The seal that holds the sword in the anvil near the Mind Dungeon castle vanishes. Alex can then pull the sword out and return it to the Stunt Double. The Stunt Double thanks the Player before they venture onward to the castle, where "the shadow of the Dungeon Master awaits." The Stunt Double is named Asuka once joining the party, leaving it up to interpretation whether this is really a stunt double or Asuka Furutani herself.
Alex and the Stunt Double encounter Claudio as the castle base. Claudio warns Alex about his obsession with ONISM and fantasy, but agrees to join him for one last fight. The trio, alongside Handsome Krow, confront the now unsealed Xenanu.
After defeating Xenanu, Alex takes the SerpentSlayer from the Stunt Double and gives Claudio the "Samurai's death" he requests, killing him instantly. The Stunt Double appears shocked and remains silent for the entire encounter.
