YIIK I.V is an update to YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG. While mentioned occasionally during 1.25's development, it was officially teased on April 4th, 2021., and was officially released on December 2nd, 2024.
AckkStudio's website describes YIIK I.V as the following:
YIIK I.V is the definitive edition of YIIK: A Postmodern RPG, originally released in 2019. The update will be free to players who already own the game.
- Reimagined cutscenes
- New story content focusing on the supporting cast
- New characters
- New story bosses & dungeons
- Improved load times
- Improved Combat & Mind Dungeon
- Over 45 minutes of new music.
History[edit | edit source]
While Version 1.25 focused on improving the existing battle system, in 2021 Version 1.5 started as a "story update." These included the stories of two additional "deviation perspectives," the "Record Shop Ronin and the Perfume King" and "The Photographed Prisoner." which would be scenes spread out throughout the game.[1]These are likely the new scenes involving Claudio and Michael.
Somewhere along the line, Ackk Studios decided to increase the scope significantly by reworking the game's battle mode.
Changes and additions[edit | edit source]
YIIK I.V is a very different experience from the original, but very little of the actual story was removed. The best way to see all the differences is to play 1.25 and I.V.
The original battle system was replaced, featuring no minigames and a Karta system. The original battle system can still be accessed in the options menu after you beat the game once.
In addition, Monster Dens were massively overhauled.
Alex's Mind Dungeon has been massively overhauled, with a movable camera and platforming. Alex is able to earn and upgrade Karta here, as well as level up him and his party members here, by talking to Handsome Krow.
There are also new characters, such as Asuka, The Camera, and Xenanu.
Updated Scenes[edit | edit source]
Many cutscenes were updated to be 3D animated, instead of a visual novel style.
- Many of Alex's monologues now take place in an environment somewhat representing a stand-up comedy sketch. Some are unchanged from 1.0's look.
- Alex meeting Sammy.
- Sammy being taken.
- ... and more. (stub)
New Scenes[edit | edit source]
The game now begins with an opening cinematic, introducing the world of YIIK.
And more...
Removed Content[edit | edit source]
While the update strived to add new content and improve on existing ideas, there are a handful of examples where content was outright removed.
The dream sequences are completely different, with the dialogue being stripped completely.
The different story mode options, such as "Reduced Monologues", is not present.
Krow's dialogue during the questionnaire is overall shortened.
Release Date[edit | edit source]
On November 19th 2024, Ackk Studios announced that YIIK I.V would release on December 2nd, 2024.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- 1.5's original subtitle was "YIIK: Muses of a Questionable Quality."[2]
- 1.5 was originally meant to be a a more straightforward story update, but as development went on the scope increased greatly with a new battle mode and other gameplay changes.[Citation Needed]

We won't be sharing too much about the specifics of each deviation perspective but I will say the following.
Unlike Wrong Soul Requiem, these are substantially longer and more involved. The scope of each scenario is extended throughout the game, rather than being confined to one dungeon." - ↑ Andrew Allanson on YIIKcord - "The subtitle for the YIIK 1.5 story update is YIIK: Muses of a Questionable Quality"
